The Public Information Division is responsible for all internal and external communications of the Metropolitan Police Department. The primary function of the Public Information Division is to disseminate accurate information about the Department to the citizens of the community, through print and broadcast media outlets. This division is also responsible for the production of the departmental newsletter, Annual Report to the Community and the planning and implementation of the Department’s special events. Information Public Information Division 314-444-5603 Annual Report to the Community   -2010 Annual Report   -2009 Annual Report   -2008 Annual Report   -2006-2007   -2004-2005   -2002-2003   -2000-2001   Open Record RequestsRequests for Police Records are governed under Missouri’s Sunshine Law which Section 610.011 states, "It is the public policy of this state that meetings, records, votes, actions, and deliberations of public governmental bodies be open to the public unless otherwise provided by law. Sections 610.010 to 610.200 shall be liberally construed and their exceptions strictly construed to promote this public policy." While the law specifies when meetings and records can be closed, these exceptions are strictly interpreted to promote openness. Records for law enforcement agencies such as the Metropolitan Police Department are subject to separate provisions of the Sunshine Law. The law now provides, however, that law enforcement records are subject to the same presumption of openness that applies to other public records. Submitting a Sunshine Law RequestPersons involved in an incident (victim, suspect, property owner, witness, family member if an involved person is deceased or incompetent) as well as attorneys and insurers should click here for information on obtaining records. Members of the media, or the general public who do not meet the criteria above should submit a request on Missouri’s Sunshine Law by sending an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. There may be a fee associated with the request as outlined in the sections 610.010, 610.023, 610.024 and 610.026 of the law, "The governmental body may charge up to 10.   In the News: Citizens Academy Application Release Sobriety Checkpoint Third District Luncheon Mardi Gras Advisory MoDot Initiative Sobriety Checkpoint 2.25 February Awards Ceremony St. Louis Police Academy Earns CALEA Accreditation CALEA Academy Assessment 2011 Crime Statistics Norvelle Brown Fundraiser            Press Releases: 2011  Books & Badges Medal of Valor Holiday Concert David Haynes Highway Dedication MoDOT Enforcement Robbery Suspect-Carrollton Bank Child Safety Day Police Foundation Luncheon on 9/6 Project Gun Safety Summer Cool Down July Badge Ceremony July 14 Awards Ceremony Citizens Academy Release Club Sales-6th District Club Sales Joplin Deployment Canine Graduation Special Olympics Tourch Run 2010 Employee Of The Year June Graduation Fair St. Louis Release Sobriety Checkpoint Citizens Academy Graduation Violent Offense Team Activated Sam Safety Memorial Breakfast UCR Rating Click It Or Ticket April 15 Sobriety Checkpoint Calea Accreditation Cold Cases Telephone Scam Mardi Gras Advisory 2011 Books and Badges 2011 Norvelle Brown Fundraiser New Headquarters Building 2010 Crime Statistics January Badge Ceremony January Graduation 2009 Promotion Ceremony Christmas Party and Blanket Giveaway You Drink & Drive You Lose Big for a Day Citizens Academy Graduation State Audit Release Attempted Robbery Suspect Books & Badges Julius Moore Release Jackson & Brezill Indictment Release Child Safety Day-7th District Off-Duty Officer Shot Multiple Times Citizen Satisfaction Survey Results Bank Robbery Press Release Citizen Academy Press Release In-Car Cameras New Website Launch Recruit Graduation - June 2009 Click It or Ticket - June 2009 Awards Ceremony - June 2009 Recruit Graduation - March 2009 New Commissioner Sworn-In - April 2009 Police Librarian to Present Department's History - April 2009 Fallen Officer to be Honored with Street Dedication - March 2009 Officer Shot Press Release Darris Reward Press Release Darris Homicide Press Release Norvelle Brown Scholorship Fundraiser Smash & Grab Press Release Violent Offenders Press Release Budget Proposal Press Release Goodson Press Release Mardi Gras Press Release All-Star Game Day Information All-Star Safety Arinze Press Release Blood Drive Press Release Department Response to Guilty Plea by Kevin Shade First 100 Days Press Release Mounted Patrol Release Mounted Patrol Results Release National Night Out Post All-Star Release S&H Indictment Thief Poses As Utility Worker Verdict in Murder of Officer Norvelle Brown Violent Offenders Update Press Release COPS Grant Helps Secure Positions Police Seek Help Identifying Suspect G.R.E.A.T.
